One Stop Shop

Bruce Electronics Recycling

The Company was formed specifically to specialise in the safe environmental disposal of computer, telecoms and associated electronics equipment. Most Electronics equipment uses printed circuit board technology to drive its logic processing. These boards all contain, in minute quantities, various metals namely, copper, silver, gold and palladium. The ability to recover these precious metals by accumulating them in bulk and then smelting them to reclaim the metals has been the cornerstone on which the Company has developed its ‘one stop shop’ electronics recycling business. From its humble beginnings Bruce Electronics Recycling now processes thousands of tonnes of electronics material per annum and has developed a fully integrated range of services designed to recycle/recover on average 70% of all equipment processed.

“ONE STOP SHOP”

The range of services now includes ferrous and non-ferrous metals, PCB and semi-conductor recovery, environmental monitor disposal, waste management, security destruction and data wiping, spare parts re-sales, new and second user sales with re-engineering and full maintenance servicing with asset tracking as a further option.

These services have been added to ensure the best value recycling & recovery option can be employed to give customers a high quality service that realises the most cost effective, environmental disposal solution.

Growth in Bruce Electronics Recycling has been impressive through its investment in capital equipment to ensure in can cope with high volume through put. It has innovated a number of environmental disposal solutions, one of which is the building of a CRT & Monitor plant. All monitors contain harmful powders on the inner coating of the screen glass.

This unique plant splits the screen, enabling the glass to be recycled as two separate fractions. All the metals, cables and power supplies are recovered, plastic is shredded and sent for recycling.

Further capital expenditure has enabled the separation of the remaining mixed glass and plastic, allowing the glass to be also recycled. Bruce Electronics Recycling has also invested in a number of shredding and granulating machines, which are used to reduce the bulk of some of the recovery streams, especially plastics. The bigger machines are also used to shred hard-drives rendering them totally useless whilst enabling all the metals to be recovered. As a further development of its facilities the Company has bought premises adjacent to its processing works where it has opened a warehouse for maintenance, re-engineering and retail sales. This is fed from equipment recovered during recycling which still has a value in the second user market. All items are electronically tested for safety and hard-drives wiped to ensure data protection. Bruce Electronic Recycling holds a full waste management license and has been accredited for ISO 9001, it is also a member of the Industry Council for Electrical & Electronics Equipment Recyclers (ICER) and was one of the first to be awarded ‘Approved Recycler & Refurbisher’ status by the Council.

The introduction of the forthcoming E.U. WEEE Directive (which in effect bans electronics going to landfill untreated) will drive more and more companies to invest in environmental disposal solutions. Bruce Electronics Recycling is ideally placed to handle anticipated growth in volumes. It has already handled equipment from throughout the UK and Europe as it is now established at the forefront of Electronics Recycling across a diverse customer base.
